While interning at Brahmin, I designed this leather bag to be produced by their in-house facility. Being able to design at a company that had a factory floor intergrated into the office allowed me to work with production more closely. I broke down the process of designing my handbag into two questions: What is it’s silhouette, and what is its function? I answered the first question by limiting myself to only using circles to create the shape of the bag, including the use of an o-ring. The second question was answered through the concept of transformation, specifically between a smooth and a melbourne article. Finally, I considered both concepts in tandem to enhance each other. The bag can wrap around and secure with magnets, transforming into two distinct looks. Thank you to Sally, Susana, Parin, Leydi, Viviana, and Joana for helping me to complete this project and navigate each stage of production.
