Stock Object is a design methodology represented by 10 products made from 3 “stock objects” of different materials. Modern mass-manufacturing has brought about accessibility while hindering a product's ability to be personalised or changed. What I propose is a way of making products that combine both the mass-produced and on-demand, by designing the possibility of multiple products into a single form called a stock object. The three I have made are as follows:
Henry, a sheet metal form that becomes a chair, shelving, a crate, a doorman, and more.
Sun, a plastic form that becomes a clock, a lamp, a planter, and more.
Flip, a woven form that becomes a purse, a cube pillow, a sling bag, and more.
As a producer, I can manufacture a single stock object and generate an entire product line.
As a consumer, you can have more customization and personalization in your everyday items.
