The rotunda lamp uses its structure to not only rotate into a dimensional form from a flat shape, but also distribute light in a unique way. A central star appears on the ceiling above it with warm light radiating out across the room, and stripes of light appearing on the surface it is placed on. This effect can transform a space beyond the object itself.
My interest in honeycomb paper has stuck around since childhood, where small paper party favors made using this method were mesmerising to me. This project takes on the challenge of elevating this material technique, while also exploring previously neglected properties of the simple yet magical array of glue and paper.
